Opportunities to participate in a new study designed to uncover travelers’ expectations and definitions of sustainability and their propensity to support destinations and travel companies that implement sustainable practices are being made available by World Footprints and Mandala Research.  Laura Mandala says the new research program will enlist the active participation of sponsors in a collaborative approach toward generating in-depth, insightful analysis of the value of sustainability.

Sustainable Tourism has been described as one of the most rapidly growing travel segments in the world, “Yet sustainable tourism, per se, has not been adequately defined or measured,” says Ms. Mandala. Sustainable Tourism is described by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) as “leading to the management of all resources in such a way that economic, social, and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled while maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes, biological diversity and life support systems.”
