Dear National Parks Partners,

As President Franklin D. Roosevelt so eloquently surmised, “There is nothing so American as our national parks…The fundamental idea behind the parks…is that the country belongs to the people, that it is a process of making for the enrichment of the lives of all of us.”

Just think, it was 1872 when Yellowstone was established as the first public preserve. Today the park system has over 401 areas, which comprise parks, monuments, historic sites, memorials, national seashores, military parks, recreation areas, scenic river ways, and scenic trails. These havens are located in all 50 states, territories, and island possessions. The parks encompass over 84 million acres and attract over 280 million visitors a year from around the globe. They generate over $27 billion dollar in business.

Sally Jewel, the Interior Secretary, was quoted this year as saying, “… our national parks help propel our nation’s economy, drawing hundreds of millions of visitors every year who are the lifeblood of the hotels, restaurants, outfitters, and other local businesses that depend on a vibrant and reliable tourism and outdoor recreation industry supported by our public lands.”

You may have heard of NPPC, National Parks Promotional Council, but are uncertain of its role. NPPC is a non-profit membership organization, whose sole focus is to assist the National Park Service in promoting “America’s National Parks,” with resources, and in ways, that do not duplicate the effective promotional efforts of others and that are helpful to the National Park Service and the economics and organizations dependent on park visitors.

In essence NPPC is aligned to promote to National Parks like no other. In fact, the National Park Service believes so strongly in NPPC, it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding. We work closely with the Department of Interior,, Brand USA, all leading concessioners, the National Parks Hospitality Association, the Student Youth Travel Association, and many more.

NPPC also has a large presence at International Pow Wow (IPW) the travel industry’s premier marketplace and largest generator of travel to the United States. It attracts over 4 billion in potential travel revenue. In 2014 NPPC aligned its federal partners and created Federal Row at the IPW; it made for a powerful and cumulative center at the show.

By joining NPPC you are assured NPPC will effectively work on your behalf with our strategic and valuable partners. You will gain greater access and visibility—with the National Parks Service, BRAND USA, and within the travel trade—by being a NPPC member. There are numerous benefits to various corresponding membership levels.

With the National Park Service’s Centennial Celebration quickly approaching in 2016 there will be multi-faceted and broad-based marketing campaigns rolling out which will create even more excitement and awareness of our National Park destinations. There’s no better time to become a member of NPPC! With your support we can help build awareness of our members with our key strategic partners—so you are positioned to maximize opportunities and revenues. Please show your support of the National Parks and join today!
